Endings, beginnings and your superpowers

Here it is - the sporadic newsletter you heard so much about when you first subscribed to Cate Asks. It’s arriving around the equinox in the ninth month of the year…totes symbolic! Let me explain…but first social news.

The year the nines resonated

I’m sure you already know that this year – 2025 – has the numerological significance of being a 9 year (2+2+5=9). In astrology, the Ninth House is the house of philosophy and greater wisdom. It’s the house of law and order and spirituality and wisdom. In tarot, the number nine represents completion, culmination and inner wisdom through the archetypes and imagery of The Hermit (IX) of the major arcana and all the nines of the minor arcana. The number nine resonates right now as it signifies endings and transformations in phases and cycles.

How has this worked out for me so far in 2025?

Well, I’ve completed a ‘big work project’ underpinned by principles of social justice, and I have left the world of employment to become a student again as I embark on a year-long Law conversion course in London. I’ve also started making ‘less secret’ my lightwork gifts with Cate Asks cartomancy.

How has this worked out for us so far in 2025?
As a global collective, we are witnessing the transformation, beginning and ending of many social and ecological norms – it’s a lot!

There has been so much in the first NINE months of this year that has reminded me that we are living collective cycles and that those cycles end, encouraging us to reflect on and gather knowledge or experience to be and contribute to the being of the planet.

All this to say that this year has been a true nine year for me, and I know from those of you that share your journeys with me that it has been a big year on this theme for you too.

Snake babies have entered the chat

Late last year, as my current transformation was beginning to materialise, I was wrestling with feelings of indignation – in a work dynamic – and was trying to find a way to untether and release my ‘righteous’ anger.

My guides shoved the following statement into a download, 'even snakes give birth to live young.'

Snakes lay eggs, right? Yes and no. I knew snakes laid eggs (oviparous), but some snakes do give birth to live young (viviparous), and it was something that spirit was directing my attention to at a point where I was feeling deeply self-righteous and angry. I was certain my co-worker was the snake!!! But just maybe I was the snake too?! I was being reminded that ‘one man's meat is another man's poison.’ The imagery and symbolism of the snake turned my hell-hot anger into cold powdery ash as I imagined my co-worker experiencing the same righteous indignation towards me.

Note: I am no saint. We no longer work together, and I will be happy if I never see them ever again – lol. ​

Now that I had the awareness that I needed to release my anger, I had to be aware of how futile it (the anger) was and actively intend to release it. ‘Justice’ wouldn’t be along to resolve the issue and confirm what I was so sure of - that they were wrong and I was right.

I was reminded of this at the weekend when a fellow lightworker shared their Lenormand spread with me. They were going to a party and knew someone they didn’t get along with would be there. The snake appeared in the spread, and there was a moment where we pondered who was the snake? Was it the other person? We named the fear that the snake was my friend and that it signified their concealed dislike of the other person. You can find yourself the snake in a situation and use your free will to either double down or pivot – whatever that pivot might look like, there are a plethora of alternatives.

Our superpowers

Awareness and intention are our superpowers. When we’re navigating cycles, like mythical dragons chasing our own tails, we can find more peace and ease with the transitions when we simply become aware of what is happening and clarify how we can use our powers of intention to move forward. It’s something that I love to work with when sitters discuss a reading with me.

Just for completeness - the snake is 7 in Lenormand, another great number but not for today! The bouquet is 9 – a gift. Yes, there are gifts in beginnings and endings, they come with our transformations!
